Here is a list of sites that give advice, tips, education about environmental issues.  If you have a favorite site that you think should be added here, please send it to workerbee@beesfly.org

Tips for home and work:

http://earth911.com/  (Very broad but not too deep coverage of many environmental issues)

http://www.everydayactivist.com/  (Straightforward and simple things to do that don't involve being an activist)

http://www1.eere.energy.gov/consumer/tips/  (Government site with a lot of energy saving tips)

PSE Green Power Program for Homes (info about Puget Sound Energy's Green power program - allows consumers to contribute a little extra to promote the use of renewable energy sources)

Project Porchlight  ("If you can change a light bulb, you can make a difference")

Education (need to find good links for these subjects):

Food choices:  Organic, local, low on the food chain.

Recycling: statistics, info on electronics, furniture, local events, etc

Renewable energy - life cycle analysis, solar, wind

http://www.b-e-f.org/renewables/ellensburg.shtm  (Very cool project in Ellensburg - first example of "community solar")

Environmental impact of aviation (very diverse views exist - goal would be to represent both sides with well-researched, independent analysis)

http://www.envirolink.org/ (Very extensive resource for links to information about environmental issues)

Community events: (also see local events page on this site)

Add link to calendar of local events - EHS site has a good list but is not available from outside Boeing intranet

www.seattlegreendrinks.org  (monthly meeting of environmentally-minded folks from all sorts of industries and backgrounds - great place to make friends and network.  Operates also in many other cities - www.greendrinks.org )

http://greenfestivals.org/  (Seattle event March 28-29, 2009)

Organizations (may have political agendas not necessarily endorsed by BEES):

www.sightline.org ("Sightline's mission is to bring about sustainability, a healthy, lasting prosperity grounded in place".)

www.grist.org ("Environmental News and Humor")

www.earthwatch.org/default.aspx?splash=1 ("leading the movement toward environmental sustainability")
