Welcome to the BEES Website!!

BEES is a Puget Sound-based recreational club formed by employees to promote, encourage and facilitate action so that a large number of people (ie Boeing employees and families) taking small and easy steps to reduce their environmental footprint will collectively make a significant difference.

MARCH 2010 is Local Food Month - sign up for weekly fresh fruits and veggies from a local farm - see more info here.  Why?

  • Boeing discount
  • Pickup at work or close to home
  • Eat delicious, healthy produce
  • Support local farmers
  • Reduce the miles travelled by your food

What can I do?

Firstly, and most importantly, do one thing today that will help to reduce your environmental footprint. Some suggestions.

Next, get involved with BEES -  come to one our upcoming meetings/events, get on our mailing list (non-Boeing emails please),  sign-up to help with or lead a project, offer to develop content for the website, become a building rep to help with communication, suggest a tour....

Have an idea for a project or what you would like to see BEES get involved in?  See a list of ideas here or send your own ideas in an email to workerbee@beesfly.org

Attend a local event - we've listed a few but there are many more

Check out the Boeing EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) Environmental Info Center which has a wealth of information, ideas and links. (only available from inside Boeing intranet)

Browse the site (and check back often), and send an email workerbee@beesfly.org if you can offer help in any of these areas:

Volunteer as a building focal to encourage higher rates of recycling, distribute news about BEES events, introduce organic coffee, help connect people that could be carpooling,

Propose and organize a tour (Islandwood, a wind farm, a local farm, a landfill (!),........)

Arrange for a speaker at one of our general meetings

Contribute content to the website (education, favorite links, book reviews, etc)

Help maintain (and possibly redesign) the website

Offer to lead or participate in a project (either one already on the project page or one of your own)

Commuting project update - look for maps in the 40-92 and add a small sticky note to show where you live.  If there is already a note near where you live, write down the BEMS and contact the person so you can drive to work together. Also check out http://www.rideshareonline.com/ to connect with vanpools or carpools in your area.
